Myth #2 Chlorine burns your eyes.
The truth is improper pH balance is what causes eye irritation. It is important to test your water regularly and adjust pH when necessary. A pool that is crystal clear can have an acidic pH causing eye irritation and corrosion of equipment.
Myth #3 If your pool has a strong chlorine smell you have lots of chlorine in it.
Not necessarily, you may be smelling chloramines. Chloramines are swimmers waste in the water such as urine, perspiration, cosmetics, suntan oils, and among other things. This usually means you need to shock your pool. However, I highly recommend testing before adding anything. A properly balanced chlorine pool hardly has any chlorine smell.
Myth #4 If your water looks great you don’t have to do a thing to it.
No, you need to test it on a regular basis. If all of your levels are at the proper ranges you don’t need to add anything, but remember to brush and vacuum your swimming pool weekly.
With this being said, I know when you have a swimming pool there are several people that want to give you their advice. I would recommend that you leave the pool educating up to the experts.
